Motivation behind blog

Discovered my passion in coding through bioinformatics projects in fall '19. Using this is a platform to share what I have learned and also reinforce my understanding about some recently learned concepts in programming. Hopefully, some readers will find their passion through my blog. For the boys.

    • Any code-related projects I have done, ranging from personal, class to lab projects.
  • Tutorials
    • Basically any concepts I have learned. Helps me retain what I have learned and I hope they can be of help to you!

Education

  • Biotechnology major (Microbiology Track turned Bioinformatics Track) at University of California, Davis (2016-2020)
  • A-Levels at Kolej Yayasan UEM (2014-2016)
  • SPM at Sekolah Menengah Sains Miri (2009-2013)

Research experience

  • Currently assisting in developing a SQLite database containing NMR experimental data. Used Bash and R scripts for data wrangling, identifying some inconsistencies within the data to be used. Currently using Python, SQLite and Bash to finalize the database.
  • Assisted a plant science lab project by applying bioinformatics, specifically running a BLASTx loop using GNU Parallel for faster results.
  • Studied the persistence of various Salmonella serovars in Salinas lettuce plants.

Misc

  • I love learning languages (not just programming languages :p). Currently trying hard to not procrastinate on learning Japanese. Really want to pick up where I left off in high school.
  • Currently learning: JavaScript and Data Science. I believe learning is a lifelong process.
